Good Old Shopping Cart...

So, the other day I had the girls with me while I grocery shopped. I didn't want to walk out of my way to get one of those cool car shopping carts so I just got the regular old cart. I put Layne in the seat and Hayden sat down in the area where you can put the heavy bulky stuff (like a child!). I knew it was risky with the whole fingers and wheels combo, but I put her down there anyway. Bad move! About half way through our trip I stopped the cart to get something from the frozen foods isle. When I started going again there was some resistance-like the breaks were on or something. Then I heard a scream. Hayden's thumb was in between the metal and the wheel when I started moving the cart!! She came over to me crying saying, "Mommy, you run over my finger!". My heart just broke. She was in so much pain and we both knew it was my fault. So, for the rest of the trip I held Hayden and comforted her every time she cried and reminded me that her finger hurt because "mommy ran over it" while Layne was entertained by eating the paper that the list was written on. Needless to say, we left the store with a bruised swollen thumb, mouth full of paper, strawberry milk & York Peppermint Patty (so I was feeling really bad about Hayden's thumb so I got her some treats!! Yikes!), and a sorry mommy.

Here is what it looks like 3 days later!!!
Sleepless Nights...
Hayden has started coming into our room around 6 in the morning. It hasn't been a big deal because I get up around 6:30 to go running. But, recently she has been coming into our room anywhere between 1am and 6am!! Most of the time she just crawls into bed and I don't even know she's there. Jerm just moves her into her bed when he gets home from work around 4 or 5am. We are trying to explain to her that she shouldn't come into our room until the sun comes up, but that doesn't seem to be working. Well, I guess she came into our room last night at some point and when Jerm got home he took her back to her bed. This morning when I got up to go running I peeked into her room and she was gone! I heard some heavy breathing coming from the family room, so I walked in there and found her curled up on the couch sound asleep. I guess she woke up and didn't want to come back into our room so she came out to the family room! What a nut.

Awww. That's precious. She's getting to the age that kids start having nightmares. She might be having bad dreams and may not be able to voice it.
