Easter Sunday

Sunday after church we went over to Grandma and Pop's house for an Easter lunch. Everyone brought a little something to share and we all had a good meal together.
I'm glad that Pop took some pictures because we didn't take any of the girls in their dresses on Sunday! Plus it has been a while since we had a picture of the four of us taken!
I even "pulled Layne's hair back" using an elastic and barrette. She was so excited about it!
Little cousin Mac. He's just about the cutest thing EVER!
No other cousins were able to make it, so the girls hunted for Easter eggs all by themselves!

Easter!!

We did the egg thing this afternoon. For me, it's just so that I can make egg salad! Yummmm!
They both did such a great job dying all of the eggs.
Here they are.....ready to be pealed and diced!!
We decided to let the girls find their Easter baskets tonight since we will be busy tomorrow. Layner found her in her stuffed animal basket. Don't you just love the look on her face!
Hayden tried to climb on the laundry basket (yes, clean clothes from this week that haven't been put away yet!!!) to get her down. Not quite tall enough!
Can't Even Stand It!

How cute are these darn things?! My mom sent me a website that had these on them. I'm pretty sure she said, "You have time in your busy weekend to whip these up....don't you?"
Well, I just couldn't pass them up! They are cone shaped (carrots) crescent rolls stuffed with egg salad!! Love them! Thanks for sharing mom. You knew that I'd just have to do them, huh?!

Yeah For Packages!

Yesterday the girlies received a special UPS delivery in the afternoon. It was an Easter package from Grandma and Pap!! When we skyped them the night before Pap said that there may be some stink bugs in there. So, the girls cautiously opened it. No stink bugs....only candy, cars, and stuffed animals!
Just what Layner wanted.....more cars!
They were so excited!
Then today, our mail lady brought us a package from Pappy! It had the Easter fashion essentials in it. Dora sandals and Easter dresses!
Hayden's sandals fit Layne. So, we'll take Layne's back and get a bigger size for Hayden.
Aren't they gorgeous dresses?! Dad tried to call me the night that he went shopping, but every time he called I was either on the phone or busy. He called his fiance too and she was busy. So, he had to pick the dresses all by himself. I think that he did a fabulous job. I am very proud of him :)
Can you find Sprinkles in the picture? This is what he was doing while the girls were posing!
Layne's flower girl dress for Pappy's wedding was in the box too. So, here they are-the flower princess' for Pappy and Melody's wedding in just about 2 weeks!
Side note-the dreaded stomach bug has hit our house! It got me around 1am on Wednesday morning and it got Layne around 3am this morning. We are both feeling much better. Now it's just a waiting game for Hayden and Jeremy. Needless to say, both girls missed their egg hunt at preschool this morning and they were very disappointed :(

Corn on the Cob!

Nothing says summer to me more than corn on the cob and watermelon! Last night we had corn. The girls just loved it!!
Busy Saturday
Last Saturday the girls spent the day with Grandma and Pop while Jerm and I went to a wedding. They had a day packed with lots of fun things to do! Of course, they had to head to the park for some play time.
Isn't she getting so big!!??
Sisters!
Last night at dinner Hayden's prayer was:
"Dear Lord, thank you for today and thank you for this food and I love my sister. Amen."
Bike ridin' at the park too.
Pop met they at the park on his way back from hunting, so he had Molly. Hayden had a good time walking Molly....or maybe Molly had a good time walking Hayden!
They also went to a chicken parade at the Stock Market. This is a device that Pop bought in order to pluck turkeys! I guess he hooks it up to his drill and the thing spins and "beats" the feathers off of the bird........Layne would prefer to wear it on her head!
Layner visiting with some of her peeps.
They also went strawberry picking! We even got a bucket of them to bring home. Our neighbors are going to get a sweet treat tonight when we deliver some strawberry cupcakes to a few of them!
Fun filled day...it took them a few days to recover from all of the fun they had!

Just Not His Day....

As you all know by now, I am a norther girls that moved down south and married a good ol' southern boy. Even though we have been married for almost 8 years now and I've been down south for almost 9 years there are just some things I can't get used to! Seeing bloody dead animals in a life like pose on the back of a pick up is just one of those things. Am I crazy or does it look like Jeremy and John are lovingly petting this 300+ pound beast?! It almost looks like they are posing with their pet piggy until you look close enough to see that his eyes are closed, his mouth is pried open with a stick, and oh yes....let's not forget the bloody nose!
Oh and here's another beauty showing the entry (Oh, I've just been corrected...EXIT) wound and please don't miss the blood on the ground. But the boys are proud of their kill! Let me back track a little to give you some history.
An older couple contacted John and asked if he could kill some wild hogs that were basically destroying their yard. So, this is one of the two beasts!
As Jeremy and I talked more about this tonight after dinner my main question/concern was for the one that's left. I wanted to know if he "remembers" his long lost buddy or if his memory is so short that he has no room in his brain for the painful picture of losing his BFF. Jeremy said that he remembers his buddy(don't you just love how confident he is about this and how I just believe my hubby!!), but life must go on......at least until the next midnight visit from the good ol' boys that will come in about week!

Halfway There!!

Well, today marks the halfway point of my 40 run challenge and I haven't missed a day! This challenge has been so awesome if so many ways. I have been encouraged, challenged, convicted, and built up by listening to some really Godly people preach some great messages. I have been reminded about the great and amazing power of prayer when I was having shin problems-no more shin problems! I have fallen in love with running again. It feel like I did 2 years ago when I was training for the 1/2 marathon. I've started cooking healthier foods for myself and my family-lots of fresh produce! I've lost a little more than 10 pounds and I feel great!
I wanted to include some of the main points in some of the messages that I've listened to over the past 20 days.....

The longer we hold a grudge....the longer the grudge has hold of us. The deeper we hold the grudge....the deeper the grudge is lodged within us.

Day 17's run will start in a few minutes. Can you say a prayer for my shins? They are starting to bother me again.....

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him." 1 John 5:14-15

When we begin to read the Bible we will begin to see as God sees. And when we begin to see as God sees we will begin to do as God says. And when we begin to do as God says we don't have to pray about doing God's will because when we're reading the Bible and doing what God says we are LIVING God's will. ~Perry Nobel

Can you glance back at your life and say, "Oh God, we've come so far?" Or do you have the tendency to only focus on how far you have to go? Right now, praise Him for how far you've come and entrust the rest of your journey to the One who brought you this far..... Beth Moore from David-Seeking a Heart Like His

it's impossible to be the person that God wants us to be if we're obsessed with trying to be the person that man wants us to be.......

the value of something is determined by the price that someone is willing to pay for it......how valuable are WE to God?! Blows my mind!

‎"God has a will for your life. I promise you, so does the devil." Beth Moore from David Seeking a Heart Like His

Spending Money

The other day Hayden was saying that she wanted some more silly bandz since she so graciously gave all of her away at school. She was actually trying to talk Layne into letter her "borrow" some of hers. Layne wasn't falling for it.
So, I told Hayden that she could buy some more silly bandz at the store with her money if she wanted. She was very excited. So, we went to their banks and got $2 out for each of them.
Needless to say, we did not come home with silly bandz....be came home with these silly glasses and bubble for Hayden and a mermaid and bubbles for Layne. Guess she didn't want those silly bandz after all!

So Sweet

I've been wanting to take a picture of the girls in front of our climbing rose bush for about a week now. Finally, today was the day! They got along SO well today. No fighting or arguing. There was a lot of helping and hugging. It was awesome!
Ok, I'm gonna be honest here....I HATE FOLDING CLOTHES! Jeremy washes all of the clothes each week and then it's my job to fold them and put them away. More often than not I end up folding and putting away two weeks worth of laundry because I just put it off! Here's what two weeks worth of clean clothes looks like before I get to foldin'!

Calling for Sprinkles

Grandma and Pop are out of town, so we're watching Molly for them. The cats aren't too happy about it and they are staying far far away. Here's Layner calling for Sprinkles this morning....
Goldfish Bread?!

Pap just loves to send the girls little packages in the mail. When we were skyping them the other night he was telling the girls about a new cereal that he picked up. He told them that he'd send them a box. So, I guess when he went to pick it up he found a few other little treats to ship too!
Goldfish bread, golden raisins, raisins, egg dye, and the raisin medley cereal.
They have been so excited to eat breakfast and lunch! Finally the time came. Breakfast was wonderful. Hayden had her raisin medley with milk and Layne had her without. Lunch was amazing with the goldfish bread.
Thanks for always thinking of us while you're at the grocery store Pap!
Hayden said, "Pap and Grandma are always sending us stuff....I think that we need to send them something soon." Be on the lookout, we're going grocery shopping today :)

Windy Day

While the girls were napping today I got a chance to look through my latest issue of Family Fun Magazine. When I saw these wind sock I knew that we just had to make them today! It's a little windy out and we were going to head to the park so it would be the perfect craft.
Time for the walk to the park (school across the street from our subdivision). Layne wasn't too sure about Sarah waving her wind sock while they were strapped into the stroller.
The girls have arrived!
I barely had to help Sarah with anything on the playground. I was surprised!
I'm pretty sure that the last time we were here, like 2 weeks ago, Layne couldn't reach this!
Hayden stood at the bottom of the slide and said, "Come on Sarah....I'll catch you!"
Can't believe that they all actually sat still and looked at the camera!!
Mommy's little helper!
Layne was pooped and Sarah found a new best buddy.
