Sleeping Beauty

This is what I found this morning when I came home from running! Daddy didn't sleep well last night and apparently Hayden didn't either because they both fell asleep while I was gone. Daddy said that Hayden was barely able to finish her peaches during breakfast time...she was just so sleepy.

Hanging with Pops

At first Hayden was using the table to pull up so that she could stand and see things better. But then she used it to hide under so Mommy and Daddy couldn't see her.

A Beauty in Nature

We took some pictures outside today since it was such a nice day. I stuck a gardenia bloom behind her ear for some of the pictures. If you have never smelled a gardenia bloom you have to!! They smell amazing.

Just the Girls

I asked Jerm to take some pictures of my new haircut since it's "styled" today because we went to church. By styled I mean that I dried it using a round brush. Once I looked at the pictures I saw that my hair is kind of limp and flat.....but this is the new do!

Now that Hayden has things to do (crawl, pull up on things, chew on toys, talk to people) she doesn't really like to take the time to pose for pictures. This is the only shot where she was actually looking at the camera!

I think that Mazie really enjoys hitching a ride when we take our walks in the neighborhood. This is her normal pose as we stroll down the street.

Standing

This morning Hayden decided that she was going to pull herself up to a standing position instead of taking a nap. At first she was pretty proud of herself but she soon discovered a problem.....How do I get down?! She hasn't figured that one out yet so she just cries and cries.

Much Better

Tonight, Daddy dressed Hayden after her bath. He was having a hard time because he was talking on the phone and trying to put lotion on a very mobile baby at the same time....not a good combination. Finally, after some grunting and groaning he said, "Trista, we need you in here." When I got in there he said, "Is this outfit on right?". Sure enough it was on backwards! He has trouble with the ones that have the snaps up the back. He just automatically thinks that the snaps go in the front. Funny stuff.

Relaxing on the Couch

Hayden thought it was so cool laying with all of the pillows on the couch this morning. The pillows had to be there in order to prevent her from rolling off the couch. She is moving so much and both mommy and daddy have been to blame for some accidents. Hayden is a tough girl though. Don't mind the wet spot on her shirt, she had just finished her sweet potato lunch. I am going to try and get video of her talking because it has really changed. She is combining a lot of her sounds together (ma-da, ba-da...) and she is changing the intonation of her voice. It's really cute. She does it a lot when she "reads" books to me. I will try to capture it on video.

Buck Teeth?!

Today I gave Hayden some Gerber Puffs. They are little astrix shaped quick dissolving cereal bits. I bought the strawberry apple flavor. Hayden isn't a big fan of them yet as you saw in the video. When I first put one in her mouth she looked like she had buck teeth because she had it hanging out of her mouth and she wouldn't chew it or swallow it.

Mother's Day Vacation

We went to Savannah, Georgia for the weekend. Jeremy has some friends from college, Brian and Suzanne, who live there. They have a little girl, Anna Leigh, who is almost two years old. We had such a wonderful weekend visiting with them and seeing all that Savannah had to offer. We just fell in love with the town.

Here's Hayden giving me my Mother's Day card this morning. It says "Mamamamama" on the front of the envelope.

While we were in Savannah we had to eat at Paula Dean's restaurant! We couldn't get a reservation on Saturday night until 9:45pm!! So, we had a late night but it was worth it! We all packed into the Colorado for the ride there. It was Jerm, Suzanne, and me in the front seat and Brian, Hayden, and Anna Leigh in the back. The girls had a fun little screaming competition on the way there. And they tried to continue it while we were sitting at the table in the restaurant. Crazy girls! What a difference another child makes!!

The girls spent a lot of time playing on the floor together. Anna Leigh did such a great job of sharing her toys with Hayden. They got along so well together.

Anna Leigh is such a beautiful little girl, don't you think?! She has the prettiest big brown eyes. And she has the cutest voice.

Swim Time

We had to put sunblock on Hayden before we took her to the pool. I made sure to lay it on thick, notice the shine on her face! We also got her some swimmy diapers. They were really big on her!

She went in with daddy and was not too happy about the cold temperature. Once she got used to the water she had a good time.

Brian and Anna Leigh having fun "simming" in the pool. Don't you love the designer floaties that they make now. We were all laughing about how when we were little all they had were those plastic orange floaties that practically rubbed a layer of skin off of your arms when you put them on.

Motor Boat

When I was little my mom used to play "Motor Boat" with me in the pool. So, now that I have a daughter....it's time to play "Motor Boat" with her. I know that it looks like she may have received whip lash when I swing her around, but she loved it! No injury occured.

What Did You Give Me to Eat!?

The other night at dinner Jeremy and I were eating watermelon so I gave Hayden a tiny little piece. She actually bit it off of a larger piece. She never did swallow it. I had to reach in her mouth and take it from her. She has so much to learn! But she has learned how to say someone's name.......

Bonk

We just love Hayden's laugh! The best thing is that the simplest things make her crack up so I get to hear her sweet laughter all day long!

From Point A to Point B.....

I have told you that Hayden is close to crawling, but now I want to show you. She is trying to get to her good friend Tad. It sure isn't crawling, but she gets there!!

Crawling Update

She's not quite crawling yet, but she is very close. she can get up on all fours, but she doesn't know to move her hands and feet at the same time. She will either move her legs or her hands, but not both. She pulls herself or rolls to get to where she wants to go.

Bath Time with the 'Rents

Here is Hayden sitting on the little seat in our bath tub waiting for the tub to fill up. We got a wash cloth to cover her "who who" but I think her tummy does a fine job!

Daddy gave her a Mohawk during bath time! Here she is standing in the tub (don't worry daddy was still in there with her) right before I got her out.

Hayden was playing with Tad today. Doesn't it look like she is opening his mouth and saying, "See this Tad, it's called a bink bink and you put it in your mouth. Let me help you open your mouth and put it in."

Bad Girl Mazie

Hayden and I went on a walk today and Mazie was outside so she decided to come with us. She would not stay with us and I got tired of yelling at her to come, so I put her in the stroller basket! She didn't like it at first but then she got used to it. I think she liked the attention.

Towards the end of our walk Hayden started to get upset. I think that she forgot that I was behind her pushing the stroller. She kept whimpering and looking back to make sure I was there.

This is what Hayden did during most of the walk today. Maybe she thought it would make us go fast like when she is in the jogging stroller. Who knows what goes through her head!

Close Ups

Today I decided to take some close up shots of Hayden. I just love her eyes and skin tone! I know that I am bias, but I think she is a really beautiful baby! Doesn't every mother though!?

Doing her new favorite thing-rolling around on the floor. She did stop and look up for a picture though.

She has to take a little rest every once in a while. I think it is so cute when she just lays her head down on the floor for a few seconds.....then she's off again.

Check out her blue vein on her nose. She's had that since the day she was born but the doctor said it would go away eventually. Sometimes you can see it really well and other times you don't even know it's there.

Still only the two teeth, but she loves them though. She sticks her tongue out, chews on her fingers, and sucks her lips in so she can feel them.

Happy Cinco de Mayo

Everything in the picture is from Peru (except for the child). Some people from our church went there on a mission trip last summer. Jeff and Jan brought all of this back for us. I know that Peru is not in Mexico, but it's the closest thing that we had to the real thing, so we went with it! Hayden particularly liked the fur booties....until she put on in her mouth!

Laughing at Mazie

Today Mazie and I were playing fetch with her little birdie. I threw it in the base of Hayden's Exersaucer. Hayden just cracked up as Mazie made many attempts to retrieve her bird. If you look closely you can see it between Hayden's feet.

Wakie Wakie

Believe it or not, sometime Hayden wakes up in a bad mood. Here is one of those times. I think she was upset because she really has some bad bedhead.

New Favorite

The bink bink has been around since Hayden was born, but it has become her new favorite toy. She likes to stick her finger in the little hole and then chew. She never really has sucked on her binkies, she just like to chew on them.

New Trick!

No, she did not stand up in her crib all on her own. Since she wasn't taking her nap I decided to show her that she now has the strength to pull herself up. She never did get it on her own, which is probably a good thing! She loved standing in the crib though.
