Wooden Toy Shower Cake

Philip asked me to make a baby shower cake for a coworker of his. He sent a picture of a huge tree mural that she has painted in the nursery and told me that the theme of the nursery is wooden toys....so here's what I came up with!
Everything is edible. Plane and train is gumpaste/fondant mixture. The tree is modeling chocolate and all other accents are fondant. Bottom tier is chocolate chocolate chip with fresh raspberry filling and the top tier is a white sour cream cake with strawberry cream filling. Now we just have to pray that Philip is able to get this cake to the shower in once piece :)

Summer Is Right Around The Corner!

The girlies enjoyed some freeze pops this afternoon. It was the perfect day for them since the rule is that they must be eaten OUTSIDE!
Then, of course, we had to fill up the beloved water table! Poor Layne ends up drenched every time they play with that table. Sissy thinks it's funny to pour water on her....even if she seeks the shelter of her car!
The Water Princess spreading her H2O cheer on everyone....

And then the clothes come off!

Yes, She IS Out in Public...

Hayden took a trip to the grocery store with me tonight and she insisted on wearing "her glasses" inside the store.....
As IF that wasn't bad enough....she then proceeded to hoist herself up through the windshield of the car and pose like a mermaid on the front of a pirate ship. All while making faces and still wearing those teeny tiny glasses!!
She is lucky that I am just as weird (if not weirder!) as she is or I may have been a little embarrassed by the whole experience!

More Box Stuff

Yes, the box is still around. Although, it does get put away at least once a day because they are fighting over it...
Pretending to go "night night" on the family room rug.
Yesterday we went to Ethan and Grant's birthday parties. The girls had such a great day partying with their friends. Grant had a train party so the girls got train whistles and conductor hats!

They got bandannas too!

Happy Birthday Super Ethan!!

Ethan had a Super Mario Brother's theme to his party today. Here's his cake. Loved doing this one. It brought back good memories of playing Nintendo as a kiddo.
Flower swirl cake for some ladies at HHBC. It's white cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing....yumm!

Oh the Concern!

This afternoon the girls and I went outside to play in the water table while Sarah was napping. They got soaked and decided to strip down to their undies/diaper. I wanted to get a picture of them looking up as they went down the ramp. So, I said..."Layne, looked at the bird on my shoulder." And of course, they both looked up. The look on Hayden's face just cracks me up every time I see it!!

Monkey Part II
When I go running Hayden and Layne walk me to the back door and give me kisses through the window as I stretch. Here's Layne giving kisses today before she came in.

Who Knew?

This morning I got out the box that my stand mixer came in so that Layner could play in it.....and boy did she!
Something about empty cardboard boxes!
She just got such a kick out of it. Sarah on the other hand, didn't want to have anything to do with it!
Jeremy was outside working in the garage and Layne wanted to go out and see him.....
What a monkey!!

Hayden's Gift...

Hayden brought this cute little booklet home from school today.
Not sure, but I think if you click on the picture above it will make it larger so that you can read it. So Sweet!!
Then a portrait of me :)

Etsy Treasure...

I found jewelry like this on Etsy and absolutely feel in love with this design. I couldn't just get this for myself so I got it for my mom for Mother's Day! Visit her Etsy Store Art of Silver for more of her beautiful designs!
Mother's Day Madness!

Daddy and the girls got me these amazing gifts for Mother's Day. My cake business is booming so I am so excited to try out my new toys. They will be put to good use...that's for sure. They went WAY overboard!!
I woke up this morning when Hayden came into our room around 6:30am. She cuddled with me in bed for a little while and then she popped up and said, "Happy Mother's Day Mommy! I have a surprise for you. Here, come with me-let me show you. It's outside." So we rushed outside, onto the deck and down the ramp. She pointed to our bathtub pond that we have and said, "Look, it's clean! Grandma, Layne, and I cleaned it last night for you!"
She was so excited and proud-it was very sweet.
The other day when I walked into our bedroom during Hayden's "rest time" she was sleeping so sweetly that I had to snap a shot!
Shrinky Dinks!
These pictures are backwards.....so we'll start with the finished product!
After they were colored we put them in the oven. The girls stood there and watched them curl right up and shrink.
First, they colored the little shrinky dinks.
Layne was very focused on collecting all of the colored pencils and then hording them!
Layne and Hayden like to play "school" and "house" together. Most of the time Hayden is the mom and Layne is the baby.....surprise surprise!
Daddy got his hair cut by a professional for the FIRST TIME in about 15 or so year on Friday! He has always cut it himself until now........

Crazy Girl

Layne was walking all around the house this morning saying, "Mommy, elp me....mommy eeeelp me!" She wanted me to help her put these Mr. Potato Head glasses on. I told her that they were for Mr. Potato Head and that they wouldn't fit....well, she proved me wrong!
This is now my new background on my phone.......
Last night we had the Cipollas and the Williams (from HHBC) over for dinner. We missed the whole Cinco de Mayo boat and served Italian food instead! Oops. The girls helped me prepare the salad.
Lots of people....we needed lots of salad! It was a fun night and it's always great to catch up with old friends. Thanks for coming over guys :)
Mario Brothers Cupcakes

I made these for Ethan's 4th Birthday! He's going to take them to school to share with his friends on his big day. Chocolate chocolate chip cupcakes with buttercream and fondant on top.

Cuteness!

Sarah is just about the happiest baby that I have ever seen. She is always smiling and laughing and just a pleasant child all around! AND she's a great eater. Maybe she could teach Layne a few things in that area!
After lunch we all went outside for a little swinging fun. Hayden wanted to push Sarah and I was told to push Layne, so that's what we did. We couldn't stay out too long because Sarah and especially Layne have fair skin. We had a good time though.
I think Layne could probably fall asleep in this swing if I kept her outside and pushed for long enough. She LOVES to swing.
Sarah loved it too, but there was no sitting back and relaxing for it. It was all giggles, squeals, and smiles....
Oh, and I had to get the girls hats since Sarah had a hat!

Hayden has discovered a new toy on the swing set and she loves it!
They must have played hard this morning and outside because all three of them are out like a light right now!!!
